The UNC Chapter of the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) was founded in 2013 with the primary goal to connect Latinx/Hispanic students and Latinx/Hispanic allies of all backgrounds at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to work together alongside other medical students, residents, physicians, and faculty on improving the health of the Latinx/Hispanic community in North Carolina and beyond. Our mission is to educate the general body of medical students on local, regional, national, and international Latino health issues, advocate for the rights of Latinos in health care, and grant leadership and volunteering opportunities. In order to join LMSA, you must be an active medical/ health professional student, pre-medical student, or other allied health professional (intern, resident, physician) at UNC-CH. If you are interested in joining, please email the co-presidents at anysa_fernandez@med.unc.edu or elena_quinonez_del_cid@med.unc.edu.
