On September 15th, the Carolina Latinx Center team was joined by several Latinx student organizations to kickoff Latinx Heritage Month. It was nothing short of an amazing turnout. Starting at 11:00 a.m., we were joined by so many students, staff, and faculty coming to experience all the fun we had to offer. Laughter, music, and conversation all filled the Pit as organizations sold refreshments, promoted upcoming events, and shared information about their organizations and what they had to offer.

As for the CLC, it was an amazing event for us as a center. We had a lot of students sign up for our directory, handed out all the CLC and Nueva Era t-shirts we had left, and handed out tons of candies and stickers. Our music ranging from bachata, salsa, reggaeton, and merengue attracted many people and fans. Classics by Selena, Marc Anthony, and Shakira all got everyone moving and socializing. Once again, our infamous CLC backdrop also made an appearance where many people and groups took pictures while waving their country’s flag.

It was so heartwarming to see our comunidad come together to proudly represent and celebrate what it means to be Latinx and Hispanic. We cannot wait to continue celebrating the rest of this month and beyond because being Latinx should be celebrated every day.
