The first Latina-focused sorority founded at an Ivy-league institution, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. was established on April 16, 1988, at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with the purpose of providing women an organization that would transcend their collegiate experience and consolidate their strength as responsible leaders of the community.

Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a multi ethnically-based, Latina-oriented organization embracing the diversity of all women. OPBSI was founded on March 15, 1989 by seventeen diverse women. We are an organization focusing on women’s empowerment, academic achievement, professionalism, service, and diversity.

Siembra UNC

Siembra NC was born in 2017 in response to Trump’s war on Immigrants and the gap in support of resources for the broader Latinx community in NC. Since the birth of Siembra NC, the organization has focused on defending black and brown communities from ICE, abusive employers, landlords, and abusive politicians. In the UNC Chapter, our mission is to enrich and support the Latinx community surrounding Chapel Hill and continue spreading Siembra’s mission throughout the student body.

Students United for Immigrant Equality (SUIE) – SUIE’s vision is to empower, inform, and activate the immigrant community, its allies, and the greater public about the issues that prevent immigrants in the United States from being able to enjoy the protection of basic human rights granted under the U.S. Constitution.

Hispanic Student Dental Association was established in 1994 to provide continuing education for oral health professionals serving the Hispanic community, to stimulate interest and encourage the entry of Hispanics into oral health professions, and to provide a voice for the Hispanic oral health professionals at UNC and in North Carolina.
