María Cristina García is the Howard A. Newman Professor of American Studies at Cornell University. Her most recent book, The Refugee Challenge in Post-Cold War America, examines the actors and interests that shaped US refugee policy in the Post-Cold War and post-9/11 era. Her talk will examine the effects of hurricanes on Central American migration movements.
