On September 10th, the Carolina Latinx Center held its Pulso Induction Ceremony at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Pulso is a CLC program designed to promote academic and professional success among Carolina students into medical school and other health professions.

The ceremony honored the new cohort of Pulso Scholars and recognized the second-year cohort and their mentors. We also welcomed friends and families who were there to celebrate their scholars’ accomplishments. During the ceremony, former Pulso Program Coordinator, Ariana Ávila, talked about her time working with the program and presented second-year scholars with a CLC pin. Our keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Angel Lopez, who shared his journey on becoming a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. Afterwards, our director, Josmell Perez, and Dr. Lopez handed the new scholars their lab coats.

The ceremony was a momentous occasion for so many, especially for the new scholars. The Carolina Latinx Center is excited to continue supporting each scholar throughout their academic and professional careers.
